POLITICAL AND MORAL OBLIGATIONS OF CITIZENS
POLITICAL
AND MORAL OBLIGATIONS OF CITIZENS
Politics
is the organisation of a body of people for the purpose of government. This
arrangement becomes necessary because a group of people called the government
are given the authority to make laws and enforce them.
By
political Obligations, we mean those things a citizen is expected to do for the
smooth running of the government and to enable the state perpetuate its
functions to the citizens. They are called LEGAL
DUTIES of Citizens. Moral obligation on the other hand deals with the
citizens’ moral and ethical consideration in the discharge of their civil actions.
They are known as the MORAL DUTIES
of citizens.
While political obligation has legal backing, moral obligations
have moral and ethical backing. In other words, citizens perform their legal
duties in order not to be punished.
